Cougars cubs retain their dark spots for up to 14 weeks, after that they begin to fade. The faded spots are still visible after a year, and in some cases ghosts of the markings remain for up to three years. So this girl might just be a young mother, as females have been known to successfully mate at as young as 20 months old.
